Delta is resuming 12 more international routes. The US is now open for vaccinations. As the number of flights to grow, Delta Air Lines has added transatlantic flights to its schedule until 2022 and has added 12 routes that have been restored.
Delta Air Lines has seen significant growth in international reservations following the announcement that the US government announced the country’s borders would be opened for travelers who have been vaccinated on the 8th of November, Monday. Delta says it has seen an increase of 450% in international reservations in the period of six weeks following the announcement by the American government.
With the US opening its borders to travelers who are vaccinated, Delta is expanding its flight schedule by adding new routes, reinstated service, and increased flight frequency. According to the carrier, Delta is the largest transatlantic airline operating out of New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport and Boston Logan International Airport and increases capacity by 90 percent by summer 2022 compared to the same period in 2021. According to Delta this expansion will allow Delta to serve 25 destinations in ten US cities.
Here’s a review of Delta’s restored transatlantic routes as well as the four international routes that were unveiled in October.
Starting on May 1, Delta will resume five weekly nonstop flights a week between New York City and Edinburgh using a Boeing 767 300 aircraft. Starting on May 26, Delta will resume five-times weekly nonstop flights between New York City and Copenhagen using the Boeing 767 300 aircraft. Redeyes outbound operate on Sundays, Tuesdays Fridays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The afternoon return service will operate on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Delta will be the only airline operating this route from JFK however, it will be competing with Scandinavian Airlines from Newark.
Between New York and Prague, Czech Republic
Delta will resume nonstop daily service between New York City and Prague from May 26. The service will be operated by a Boeing 767 300 aircraft. The route will be only available 5 times per week from May. Outbound flights will be a redeye, and returning flights will take place during the afternoon. Delta will be the sole competitor from JFK however, it will be competing with United out of Newark.
Between New York and Zurich, Switzerland
Delta will resume daily nonstop service between New York City and Zurich starting February 6, using the Boeing 767-4400 aircraft. The outbound route will be a redeye and the return flight will be during the afternoon. Delta will compete with Swiss International Air Lines, also known as SWISS, out of JFK. The airline will also see competitors from SWISS as well as United out of Newark.
Between Boston and Edinburgh in Scotland
Delta will resume five times a week nonstop service between Boston and Edinburgh beginning May 27 using a Boeing 767-300 aircraft. However, the route will operate every three weeks during June.
